Sacred Earth is a year-long series focused on the intersection of climate change, sustainability, earth care — and faith, ethics, psychology, and art. Sponsored by the Fetzer Institute, whose mission is to "help build the spiritual foundation of a loving world," the series aims to encourage readers to examine how they view their home planet, their beliefs and values about earth care, and to encourage them to use their eco-imagination to forge a stronger relationship with the earth, one that supports changes we all need to make to take care of our precious planet.
We launched the series close to Earth Day and have so far included stories that have focused on behavioral psychology, gamesmanship, and earth care; local faith institutions turning more of their property into wild spaces and native plantings; and how to create places of safety and security — tangible, social, and psychological — in the midst of the climate crisis.
