Meals on Wheels

One of the most pressing issues facing Memphis is food insecurity among seniors. The greater Memphis area, in fact, has the third highest senior food insecurity rates in the country. To shed light on this issue and offer possible solutions, IMG’s High Ground has partnered with the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA). Local organizations like MIFA are taking a proactive approach to providing solutions.

The first story in this series was published in March and focused on the overall problem. A more recent story focused on how 42 restaurants in Memphis came together in a partnership with MIFA to raise money for Meals on Wheels. That came with the launch of a new fundraising campaign. Of the many programs MIFA offers at-risk seniors and families throughout the Memphis area, providing solutions to issues of senior food insecurity is at the top of the list.
