Our commitment to diversity
Issue Media Group (IMG) is committed to fostering and preserving a culture of inclusion and diversity. We embrace and encourage differences in gender, race, ethnicity, color, religion, sexual orientation, age, marital or family status, and all other characteristics that diversify its staff, including all full-time employees, contractors, contributors, and vendors. Furthermore, we believe that an interest in diversity should extend outward and be reflected across the span of our work and relationships.
We practice inclusive reporting and storytelling that accurately and fairly portrays the communities in which we work. We seek out and include diverse sources in age, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic class, political opinion, and social ideas. We uphold this belief in all of our reporting and projects.
We strive to apply this commitment to diversity across all employment practices, including recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, professional development and training, promotions, and terminations. IMG seeks to create a safe, open work environment for staff of all backgrounds by encouraging communication, participation, and respect and understanding for the surrounding community.
All IMG staff members are responsible for treating others with respect when representing the company. Staff members are expected to practice inclusive, dignified conduct that reflects the company’s commitment to diversity during internal and public-facing work-related activities (i.e., behavior in meetings with staff members and clients, on social media, and at IMG-sponsored events). Staff members who exhibit inappropriate or discriminatory behavior are subject to disciplinary action.
If any staff member believes that he or she has been subjected to discriminatory behavior or knows of misconduct, he or she should seek assistance from the leadership team.
This policy guides our approach to all interactions with staff, clients, and readers. We fundamentally write about the future of cities and, therefore, believe that we must strive to achieve a quality that represents our interest in diversity and respect in both the content that we produce and the employees we hire.
